Cat Care With The Veken Pet Water Fountain Review

Hello, it’s me, Daverd! I’m here again with another review on an item I’ve owned for at least a year. This time it’s the Veken stainless steel pet water fountain. Now, I use this for my cats but I would say it’s also for dogs. Though some may have trouble using it. More on that will be included in this review. If you’re looking to purchase this water fountain for your pet then this review will be helpful so you don’t waste your money or time.

When I opened the fountain I received the fountain itself. But I also received a pump and some attachments that allow the fountain to either flow more like a hose or multi-directional streams. Also included was a set of filters and an extra pair for when I have to change it.

First and foremost, make sure you wash all parts of this fountain. Anything made in a factory most likely has contamination and chemicals that you do not want your pet to ingest. I will provide a YouTube video that showcases how to assemble the fountain if you prefer a video format.

Video Tutorial

• Place the pump in the designated spot inside the water fountain. (use the provided suction cups to keep it in place)
• Connect the small water tube to the pump’s outlet. This tube directs water flow to the top of the fountain. (some models require the tube to go on after the top has been put on)
• Place the filter between the lid and the top of the fountain facing down.
• Attach the lid to the top of the filter and fountain.
• Attach the hollow stem pieces to the middle hole of the fountain.
• Fill with sanitary water
• Plug-in

The most important thing to know in my opinion is that the pump provided can be noisy if it is not properly put on right or if the fountain is too low on water. Do not let your fountain get too low on water because it can damage your pump and that’s the most expensive part.

Another good thing to know is that it can hold an excessive amount of water. Watering four cats we fill it maybe once a month. However, it is recommended that you change the filter more frequently than that. 2-4 weeks.

The filter replacements can be a little pricey but compared to other models it’s not much. If you keep this fountain near any food particles then make sure that you do not drop anything in the fountain. It can contaminate your water or even clog the pump.

Large dogs would most likely not like drinking from this fountain. While it is adequate for them it doesn’t have much of a deep water level that larger dogs would prefer. If you’re worried about the light you can turn it off. However, I do prefer the light as it illuminates the floor where I have it.

Overall Conclusion

To be honest I don’t have other water fountains to compare it to. This is the only fountain that I’ve owned and it’s done its job so far. The pump won’t last forever but when it does break it’s about a $12 replacement. About 40 percent cheaper than buying a new one. My four cats all drink from the fountain and one is a picky foodie. The only complaint is that it is noisy when it’s not properly put together or when the pump wire is moved a lot. I went ahead and found and put the best deals for the filters and the fountain below. The filters are off-brand but you can get thirty-four pieces for cheaper than the original at 6 pieces.
