Why Choose A Large Cat Litter Box?

Large cats will not like smaller boxes and have trouble covering their feces. Because of this issue, it’s recommended that you get a large box, even if you have a growing cat because you won’t have to buy multiple. If your cat does not like the litter box it uses it will scoop around the box, not the litter itself. This can cause unwanted smells as the uncovered fecal matter will not be covered. As for electric litter boxes, I am not recommending them as they have been proven to be dangerous.

A Budget Friendly Large Cat Litter Box

Amazon Basic has a large cat litter box that I recommend as it will be the most budget-friendly option for its size. It is made of plastic so don’t expect a hard metal base as some other options I’ll recommend. It has a top that helps keep litter from escaping but I find my cats will paw at it instead of the litter in the box. Once I removed the top it remedied the situation. I find that this is adequate for most cats. That being said I have a very large cat that even sometimes has trouble covering up. So I have larger options that will be bigger below.

A Stainless Steel Large Cat Litter Box

I recommend the Zarler Stainless Steel Cat Litter Box With a Lid if you want a metal version of a cat litter box. Though be warned it is bigger than the Amazon basic one. Especially when it comes to length. This litter box also has sides that even a large cat should not paw at. A large stainless steel cat litter box is excellent because the base isn’t as wobbly when you move the box. I’ve had horror experiences when I accidentally dumped my plastic litter boxes. This litter box is also great for those with a multi-cat household. More space means you won’t have to change your litter box every couple of hours.

Things To Remember About Large Litter Boxes

A large litter box will be hard to move once you’ve put litter in it. Be sure to get garbage bags large enough to cover the whole box. When you change all the litter at once you pull it all out. Another good tip is not to keep your litterbox near food prep areas. The dust made by cats pawing litter can spread. As for keeping your litter box smelling good, there are products for that HERE.
